The term Industry 4.0 refers an innovative project of the German federal government, which is part of the future high-tech strategy it is striving to deliver. The aim is to computerize traditional branches of industry, such as production technology. The intention is to achieve this through a cyber-physical system which connects computer and technical software components with mechanical and electronic parts via a data infrastructure, such as the internet. The “Internet of Things” is the technological principle behind it. This refers to the connection of clearly identifiable physical objects by means of an internet-like structure. Accordingly, the Internet of Things consists not only of people, but also objects.
