The Industry 4.0 platform was launched in 2013 as a joint project of the German business associations BITKOM, VDMA and ZVEI to develop and implement the Industry 4.0 project as part of the federal government’s high-tech strategy for the future. In 2015 the platform was expanded and stakeholders from business, trade associations, trade unions, science and politics were included. The focus of the work on the platform is on bringing together expertise in relation to Industry 4.0 and making it available to German companies, in particular medium-sized enterprises.
